Hiking — Moya – Calabozo Dam – Guide from the historic center of Moya, Gran Canaria, organized by the Valleseco City Council. Valleseco concludes its hiking season with a spectacular trek between ravines, springs, and heritage of the north of Gran Canaria. The Department of Tourism of the Valleseco City Council, led by Elsa Montero Sánchez, will put the finishing touch to the 2025-2026 hiking season next Saturday, June 20, with the Moya – Presa del Calabozo – Guía route, a proposal that will allow participants to discover some of the most unique and surprising landscapes of northern Gran Canaria. The route will start from the historic center of Moya, crossing paths that lead to the Barranco de Moya, where participants can enjoy an environment of great natural wealth, with water springs, heather, and pine forests that will accompany a large part of the walk. The trek will continue towards Casa Aguilar and the Barranco del Calabozo, crossing the dam and then ascending to the areas of La Dehesa and San Juan. During the route, the surroundings of the old hermitage of the patron saint will also be visited, before arriving at Santa María de Guía, where the hikers will share a snack to celebrate the end of a season full of experiences, nature, and companionship. Distance: 10 km. Estimated duration: 3 h 20 min. Positive elevation gain: 374 m. Accumulated descent: 638 m. Level: Low (MIDE). Price: 8 euros. This last outing culminates a season that has allowed the discovery of the scenic, cultural, and ethnographic richness of Gran Canaria through active tourism and environmental education.
